October 2020 News

COVID impacted every business in the area from the largest manufacturer to the smallest individual business.  We have been in contact with Iron Designs.  This is the small business that has been doing our mailbox restoration program.  He is back up and running and over the last several weeks has been gathering the material to stage, prepare, and work on the mailboxes.

Their team will be working on the mailboxes over the next few weeks.  The owner has assured us that he should be complete in 2 to 3 weeks.

This year has definitely been a weird one with the Pandemic and shutdowns.

We can not advise anyone on what to do for Halloween.  Please do whatever you feel compelled to.  If you are parents and taking kids door to door, practice all the fundamentals of this pandemic; practice safe distancing and use hand sanitizer.

If you feel comfortable handing out candy, we urge you to do the same.  If you do not feel comfortable handing out candy simply turn the lights out on the porch.  From personal experience, maybe even every light off in the house.  You will still get some kids ringing the doorbell.  🙂

Halloween will fall on a Saturday this year.  I am sure Trick or Treaters will be out in full force that night.  Last year we did hire a security detail.  2 people worked the front entrance keeping traffic moving while one roamed the neighborhood ensuring safety throughout the neighborhood.  Not knowing what kind of turnout there will be, we do plan on hiring them again to be on the safe side.

As always we are open to any other feedback that will help everyone enjoy this family fun evening.

Potholes aren’t any fun.  We have had a few issues with potholes at the entrance.  If you notice potholes anywhere you can call 731-425-8541 and ask them to repair.  They typically are pretty responsive.

We have asked about repaving.  In order to do that ourselves, you would be looking at up to $20K – $30K to do a short street.  We have made the city aware but the waiting list is forever.

Our Neighborhood has an abundance of Swimming pools.  They often make the Summertime heat a little more enjoyable.  There is nothing better than the sound of kids having a big-time while playing in the pool.  Swimming pools provide great enjoyment, but also can be deadly.  We need to be aware of what the State requirements are in regards to swimming pool safety and fencing.  The following is a quote from a quick google search on TN residential swimming pool requirements;

Every residential swimming pool in Tennessee is subject to the BOCA Pool Barrier Code and must have a barrier – a fence or wall – around it to prevent drownings and injuries.

We are not in law enforcement but we do urge neighbors to be aware of all dangers in and out of our neighborhood.
